There have been many interpretations for the star pendant, this jewel has been around for several decades. The number of pointed edges in a star are in the 5 to 8 range. Leaving history and tradition aside, a star would signify brightness more like a bright shining light directing our mind and actions in the right direction. The MPN15 pendant has a 6 segmented star, this would mean size points in the star. If you had to talk about basic design concept for a star pendant, you would cover two types of pendants. The first is where the star forms the pendant and is provided with a bale (loop) on top for the chain, there is no bounding circle or frame for the star. The above two types of pendants account for more than 90% of the star pendants that are produced in gold or sterling silver. Coming back to the MPN15 pendant, it is unique in a very significant way. This pendant does not include a completely open or closed star. The cost factor is another motivating factor for choosing silver pendants. Like all other jewelry with meaning, a gold or sterling silver star pendant would have equal meaning. This will be true as long as the plating lasts and when it does come off, the jewel would look quite bad.
